出来る日も出来ない日もありますが、出来る日には細々と英語の勉強をしています。

 

 

んで、今回は英検1級のスピーチの練習の一環で、この記事をわざわざノート代わりにして頭の中にある構成が定まってない内容を文章にしてみます。

 

 

勘の良い読者様には全てお見通しされちゃってるかと思いますが、

Should job promotions be based on seniority or performance?

 

スピーチ内容

There have been a lot of disscussions and debates about the pros and cons of job promotions based on seniority or performance. Although some people say that the system based on seniority guarantees workers employment stability, I believe that job promotions should be based on performance for the following three reasons.

 

First, in job promotions based on performance, workers can be stimulated by their challenging work. In the seniority system, workers tend to do relatively menial jobs and often get tired of working. However, in the system based on performance, workers can receive impulses from their hard tasks through advancing performance.

 

Second, job promotions based on performance boost morale among younger workers for their jobs. In the seniority system, yonger workers cannot easily be promoted and get a pay rise so they often lose their enthusiasm about their work. Meanwhile, in the system based on performance, yonger workers can get opportunities for being promoted depending on performance, which motivates them to work harder.

 

Finally, job promotions based on performance can encourage senior workers to train themselves. In the seniority system, senior workers tend not to polish their skills related to their work because they can sustain their current posts and gain competent salary regardless of performance. However, in the system based on performance, senior workers make efforts to improve their abilities for their jobs because they may lose their current positions unless they raise performance.

 

Therefore, for the mentioned three reasons, making workers stimulated, boosting morale among younger workers for working and encouraging senior workers to polish their skills, I believe that job promotions should be based on performance.
